Tuesday, potential 2020 Democratic hopeful Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) discussed on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” how he would address health care as president of the United States.
Swalwell promised to “take a trillion dollars over 10 years” from President Donald Trump’s trillion dollar tax cut to find a cure for diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
“I support coverage for all, which would be a public option to drive down the pressure on the private insurers,” Swalwell outlined. “But I hope we don’t miss the opportunity to do what I think we do best as a country: Find the unfindable, solve the unsolvable and cure the incurable.”
He continued, “I would take a trillion dollars over 10 years, the trillion dollar tax cut that the president gave to the wealthiest Americans, a trillion dollars over 10 years to invest in genomics, data therapies, data sharing, targeted therapies, so you can look every ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s patient in the eye and say, ‘We have given you the best shot in a lifetime to find a cure.’”
Swalwell revealed that he plans to make a decision on entering the race by the end of March.
