Booker: I Want to Explore Options on Supreme Court, Term Limits ‘Might Be One Thing’

During an interview broadcast on Monday’s edition of MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2020 presidential candidate Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) stated that he wants to “start exploring a lot of options” on changing the Supreme Court, and that term limits for justices might be one idea.

Host Chris Matthews asked Booker if he favors increasing the number of justices on the court.

Booker said, “I think we need to fix the Supreme Court. I think they stole a Supreme Court seat.”

Matthews followed up on whether Booker agrees with expanding the court.

Booker responded, “I would like to start exploring a lot of options, that we should have a national conversation. Term limits for Supreme Court justices might be one thing, to give every president the ability to choose three, with people holding on to those seats in ways that I don’t think is necessarily healthy.”

Matthews then asked about an age limit on justices.

Booker answered, “I think we — term limits might be a better way of saying that.”
