Immigrant rights and progressive groups plan to deliver petitions to senators from Americans who oppose President Donald Trump’s declaration “to manufacture an immigration crisis and misuse public funds to build a bigoted wall” on Wednesday, according to a press release.
The event is being organized by Public Citizen, United We Dream, CREDO Action, The Immigration Hub, Movimiento Cosecha, America’s Voice, People for the American Way, Democracy for America, Win Without War, Detention Watch Network and Color of Change.
The signers of the “more than a half million petitions” want to urge U.S. senators to vote to block the president’s emergency declaration.
