On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Representative Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN), who is a conferee on the immigration conference committee, stated that the chances of another government shutdown are “Nil,” “or next to nil.”
Co-host Steve Doocy asked, “The chances of another government shutdown are, odds-wise?”
Fleischmann responded, “Nil, and — or next to nil. In this situation, there is no appetite, on either side of the aisle, and I think in either chamber, for another partial government shutdown. When 24% of the government got shut down, it was a problem. It should have never happened. If the Republican bill got passed in December, we would not have had that, but it got jammed up in the Senate. So, our situation’s going to be, we want to keep the border safe, we want to build the wall, and we want to keep the government open.”
