During CNN’s State of the Union coverage on Tuesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) responded to President Trump’s remarks about investigations during the State of the Union by vowing to “get to the bottom of whether the Russians still possess financial leverage” over the president, and stating that it would be “negligent” not to do so.

Schiff said Trump is “bridling under the fact that, with a Democratic majority, we’re going to do our job. We’re going to be a co-equal branch of government. We’re not going to turn and look the other way when we see corruption or malfeasance. And we’re going to get to the bottom of what Russia has done. We’re going to get to the bottom of whether the Russians still possess financial leverage over the president. We would be negligent in not doing so.”
