Monday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) turned “the screw just a little bit tighter” on President Donald Trump every day.
Steele said, “Now he’s at a point where the opposition is not going to put that offer back on the table. They’re not going to give him $5.7 billion. There’s no way in heck they are giving him 25 billion.”
Asking about Pelosi inviting Trump to give the State of the Union address on February 5, host Chris Matthews said, “How about Nancy Pelosi saying we’ll have it next Tuesday? She’ll be dictating terms. It’s so clear she is calling the shots.”
Steele said, “Which goes to my central point about the relationship between these two individuals. Donald Trump has yet to figure out what to do with Nancy. He has a Nancy problem, and he doesn’t know to deal with it. And she knows it. Every day, she turns the screw just a little bit tighter on him. And today’s letter was a good example of that.”
