Sunday on “CNN Newsroom,” Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Tom Perez called on President Donald Trump and his campaign to apologize in the wake of political operative Roger Stone’s indictment.
“Do you think the DNC is owed an apology?” host Ana Cabrera asked.
“Absolutely,” Perez replied.
“But frankly, more importantly, our democracy is owed an apology by this president and by this campaign,” he continued. “I spent over a decade at the Justice Department as prosecutor. Director Mueller is methodical. I don’t think you have seen the end of indictments in connection with this, and Donald Trump Jr. ought to have a good lawyer because when you look at that language that you just cited, Ana, when you see this, a senior Trump campaign official was directed to contact Stone. There are not that many senior campaign officials who could be above them. I need my thumbs to count the number of people who are above senior campaign officials.”
