Sunday on MSNBC’s “Kasie DC,” Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) voiced his confidence in Congress’ ability to reach a border security deal, even though President Donald Trump put the chance at “less than 50/50.”
However, Jones said Trump poses the “biggest problem” because of his tendency to “move the goal posts.”
“I am absolutely confident my colleagues can strike a deal,” Jones stated. “I think the biggest problem is the president. He has this tendency to walk back what he says and move, as you’ve heard tonight, move the goal posts. I think, you know, my colleagues in the Senate and in the House can strike a deal — this may take longer than three weeks but if they’re making progress, I think question do something to extend that. But I have absolute confidence. We did this deal … I think they can do it again.”
