Dem Sen. Blumenthal: Trump ‘Would Be Prosecutable’ for Witness Intimidation if He Wasn’t President

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) stated that President Trump “would be prosecutable” for witness intimidation for his statements about Michael Cohen, “but for his being president.”

Blumenthal said, “Clearly, there’s a violation here of 18 United States Code 1512, which stops and protects against intimidation of witnesses. He would be prosecutable, but for his being president. And I believe that a sitting president can be indicted. One of the reasons for it is, to stop ongoing criminal activity.”

Blumenthal added that Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani’s statements “could be indictable.”
