On Wednesday’s “CNN Newsroom,” White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp responded to a question on whether the White House would be willing to exchange protection for DREAMers for increased wall funding by stating, “We have been open for discussion, open for negotiations for the Democrats.”
Host Jim Sciutto asked, “Would the president be willing to exchange protection for DREAMers for more money for the wall?”
Schlapp answered, “We have been open for discussion, open for negotiations for the Democrats. However, the Democrats, themselves, have walled themselves out of this, literally. They have been stuck on saying, well, it’s a concrete wall. We can’t accept a concrete wall.”
