On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) responded to President Trump’s praise of Roger Stone for Stone’s refusal to testify against Trump by saying that while people have the right to invoke the 5th Amendment, nobody “should be actively telling people not to cooperate with legitimate investigators.”
Reed said, “You’re getting into a very sensitive area when you’re encouraging people not to cooperate. Frankly, as a principle, it should be cooperation with legal authorities. We all have constitutional rights to not speak, to invoke the Fifth Amendment. But, no one, I think, should be actively telling people not to cooperate with legitimate investigators.”
