Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) on Tuesday said his party will probably have as many as “30 or 40” candidates in 2020.
Cicilline would not share which one of the candidates he preferred but said he had “confidence” it would be a “terrific nominee” who will go on to win the presidential election.
“We’ll have 30 or 40 probably great candidates running for president,” Cicilline predicted.
A baffled Hallie Jackson replied, “That’s a lot.”
“Everyone recognizes how urgent this moment is in the history of our country.
“Forty, really? Forty candidates?” Jackson asked in disbelief.
Cicilline said yes, and went on to say there would be a “big field of great candidates.”
