Flake on 2020 Presidential Bid: ‘I’m Not Ruling It Out’

Friday on “CNN Newsroom,” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) commented on the possibility he runs for president in 2020, saying he is “not ruling it out.”

CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked Flake if he had plans to run, and while the senator said he hopes to see someone challenge Trump in the primary and would not rule out being the one to do so, Flake would “prefer” it be someone else.

“On record, I have many times said I hope a Republican runs in the primary against the president,” Flake told Harlow. “I think Republicans need to be reminded what it means to be conservative, and what it means to be decent.”

“What are the chances that Republican is you?” Harlow asked.

“I prefer it’s somebody else,” he replied. I’m not ruling it out.”

Harlow pressed, “If it’s not?”

“I’m not ruling it out, but it’s certainly a long way from my mind right now,” said Flake.
