During Sunday’s “PoliticsNation” on MSNBC, 2016 Democratic presidential candidate former Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD) called on the United States to make voting a “constitutional right” to prevent people from being discouraged from voting.
“We need to address the need for democracy reform in our own country,” O’Malley told host Al Sharpton. “That means a constitutional right to vote so we don’t see in places especially like Mississippi and North Carolina, Georgia and Florida sort of the, you know, the thousand cuts that shave off and discourage people from voting.”
He added, “The future of our country is the future of more inclusion for more people.”
