A California woman was caught on camera beating and choking a McDonald’s manager because she was upset upon discovering that her order did not have enough ketchup, police said.
The Santa Ana Police Department released a video Tuesday in the hopes they could catch the suspect, who allegedly assaulted the manager in a fit of rage at 11 p.m. on October 27 while in the drive-thru at the McDonald’s on the 1500 block of North Bristol Street.
The Santa Ana Police said in a statement that the female customer entered an employee entrance of the restaurant to ask for ketchup.
When the manager told her she could not enter the building, the customer “became combative” by punching, pushing, and choking the McDonald’s worker, authorities said.
The video shows the scuffle taking place inside the fast food joint’s drive-thru window, and showed another McDonald’s employee trying to intervene and call over fellow workers for assistance.
A man thought to be accompanying the attacker entered through the back door of the restaurant to pull the woman off the McDonald’s manager before escorting her off the restaurant’s premises, police said.
Police are searching for the man involved in the incident as well as the female suspect but emphasized that the man is not in trouble.
Authorities describe the woman as a 20 to 25-year-old Hispanic with brown hair. She was last seen wearing gray pants and a light pink t-shirt.
Authorities are asking those with information on her whereabouts to call Santa Ana police at 714-245-8647, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-847-6227.
