On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) stated that Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker won’t be able to get confirmed by the Senate and a “political hack” can’t be put in charge of the Department of Justice.
Manchin said, “First of all, from a political standpoint, you can’t put a political hack in charge of an agency that’s looked upon as far as the leading agency that we have in federal government that’s going to protect the people of the United States of America. … And he’s a pretty hardcore politician. So, I don’t think it fares well at all. He’s not going to be able to get confirmed, even if he’d come up for confirmation, I don’t believe so.”
