Cornyn: Committee Vote on Kavanaugh Could Happen as Early as Friday, Floor Vote Could Be Tuesday

On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Your World,” Senate Majority Whip and Senate Judiciary Committee member John Cornyn (R-TX) stated that Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh could be voted on by the Judiciary Committee as soon as Friday, and there could be a vote on Kavanaugh in the full Senate as early as Tuesday.

Host Neil Cavuto asked, “Senator, we’ve been told or got word that a lot of you guys have been told to stick around town, that there could, in fact, be a Kavanaugh vote this weekend. Is that true?”

Cornyn answered, “Yes, I believe if, in fact, we’re able to move to a markup, let’s say as early as Friday, and vote it out of committee and then we could go to the floor of the Senate, and we would then — it would take probably until Tuesday for us to have that final vote. But we don’t see any advantage in continuing for the judge to be dangled out there for miscellaneous people, for reasons of their own, making accusations that turn out to be unfounded. And so, we think the right thing to do is listen to Ms. Ford as we will on Thursday, but then let the process go forward.”
