A Detroit woman discovered a smelly surprise Saturday when video footage showed her neighbor smearing dog feces on her front door, according to a video of the incident.
Homeowner Joy Edwards checked her surveillance footage Saturday to find her neighbor, Brenda Mullins, rubbing a bag of dog feces on her door, WXYZ reported.
“I just don’t understand who could do that. That’s disgusting,” Edwards said.
Mullins said she is not denying her neighbor’s allegations against her, telling WXYZ that she smeared her neighbor’s dog droppings on her neighbor’s door as payback for not cleaning up after her pets.
“The dog came and messed in my yard,” Mullins said. “I picked it up and went and put it on her doorknob. You didn’t want to clean it up here. You will clean it up there.”
“I had to do what I had to do,” she added. “I didn’t want to be a vigilante, but I had to do what I had to do.”
Edwards denied Mullins’ accusations, saying that if her dogs chose to relieve themselves on Mullins’ lawn, it was accidental and her neighbor’s retaliation was not warranted.
Mullins said she told the police about her actions, although it is unclear if either woman faced criminal charges or citations.
Others who have gotten into disputes over dog droppings have faced criminal charges. In 2012, a Massachusetts woman who got into a dispute with her neighbor faced multiple charges, including vandalism and disorderly conduct, the Metrowest Daily News reported.
