Rendell: Andrew Gillum ‘Probably a Little Too Progressive for Florida’

Sunday on New York AM 970 radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” former DNC Chair and former Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA) discussed the 2018 midterms and Tallahassee Mayor and Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum’s chances of defeating GOP nominee former Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

Rendell praised Gillum, but said he is “probably a little too progressive for Florida.”

“The very good mayor of Tallahassee, Mr. Gillum, who is our candidate, and he is very much to the left. And probably a little too progressive for Florida. But he’s galvanized all of our young voters, all of our African-American voters and all our Latino voters, and he’s going against a Tea Party Republican who’s made some jarring mistakes,” Rendell explained.

“I think we have a chance to win in Florida,” he added.
