President Donald Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court Monday night. Following the nomination, the Arizona Cardinals posted a letter of support from team president Michael Bidwill, who went to high school with Kavanaugh.
Tuesday, Fox Sports 1 “Undisputed” co-host Shannon Sharpe called out the NFL for being “hypocritical” for being against Colin Kaepernick’s politics and then turning around and voicing support for Trump’s SCOTUS nominee on the team website.
“[I]t looks to me that politics is bad for business as long as the players are doing the politicking. As long as we’re doing it, we’re in ownership, we cool,” Sharpe said.
“I thought I heard so many owners — I even heard a commissioner say people come to sporting events to get away from politics,” he added. “Skip, I went on the Arizona Cardinals website. I wanted to see when I was going to be able to catch a practice. Maybe they’re going to have an autograph signing, and I might be able to get Larry Fitzgerald’s autograph. And lo and behold, I got to see this politics. I was going to sports to get away from politics and they brought it back to me. You see how hypocritical that can be?”
