In an interview with CNBC’s Suzy Welch, New York Mets minor leaguer Tim Tebow shrugged off doubters, saying he is not worried about what other people have to say about his attempt at making a Major League Baseball roster after a short career in the National Football League.
“Why do we have to be defined by what other people want us to do?” Tebow asked in the interview that aired Thursday. “I think that’s one of the silliest things that people get in their brain, is that they let the rest of the world tell us what we can and can’t do.”
Tebow said he still has offers to play positions other than quarterback in the NFL, but he is going to live out his dream in baseball rather than do what other people want him to do.
Welch asked the 2007 Heisman winner, “What if it doesn’t work out with baseball?”
“What if it doesn’t? Most people already think it’s not going to. So, what does that matter? You have a goal. If there’s something that’s been placed on your heart, then strive for it. What’s the worst thing that’s going to happen? You don’t make it? Oh well, but at least you get to say I tried for me. I get to look back at peace because I went all out all the time,” Tebow replied.
