Cruz: Trump’s Immigration Pillars ‘Dramatically to the Left of Where Barack Obama Was’

On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) criticized President Trump’s immigration pillars as “dramatically to the left of where Barack Obama was.”

Cruz said, “Listen, the plans that are before the Senate right now, I think they don’t make any sense at all. We should not be granting citizenship to people here illegally. For whatever reason, you’ve got a whole lot of Republicans eager and — to propose granting citizenship for 1.8 million people here illegally.”

In response to a question on President Trump’s immigration pillars, Cruz stated, “Listen, that is dramatically to the left of where Barack Obama was. Barack Obama in DACA, which was executive amnesty, it was illegal, it was unconstitutional, DACA covered 690,000 people. Why on earth are Republicans trying to more than double, nearly triple that from 690,000, to 1.8 million?”

He further argued that if Republicans granted citizenship to millions, it is “quite likely” that Republicans will lose both chambers of Congress “and Speaker Nancy Pelosi will impeach President Trump.”
