Monday on Fox Sports 1’s “The Herd,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell shrugged off the XFL posing a threat to his league, saying the NFL is focused on improving its own game.
The XFL, set to reopen in 2020, says it will differ from the NFL in that it will leave out politics and social issues, as well as not allow players with a criminal history.
“I didn’t really see much of the story, to be honest with you, Colin,” he told host Colin Cowherd.
“We’ll see how things play out,” he continued. “I think it’s still a couple years before they get there. Obviously, you know we’ve had many spring leagues, competing leagues that have propped up over decades. From our standpoint, we focus on doing what we do best and making sure we improve our game and that’s where our focus is.”
