TMZ Sports caught up with Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) Thursday and the new senator thanked NBA Hall of Fame’s Charles Barkley for being a big supporter and helping him beat out Roy Moore.
Leading up to the December election, Barkley attacked Steve Bannon in a radio ad for Jones and urged voters from his home state of Alabama to not elect Moore.
After the win, Barkley went on CNN and said Alabama “really needed” to elect Jones to get out of the “time warp.”
“I know he helped a lot with your election, what do you have to say to … Charles Barkley?” the reporter asked.
Jones replied, “I say thank you.”
