Knight 1A Institute Director: Trump Admin ‘More Hostile to Free Speech Than Any in Recent Memory’

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber,” Jameel Jaffer, the Executive Director of the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, which has sued President Trump over him blocking people on Twitter, argued that the Trump administration “is more hostile to free speech than any in recent memory.”

Jaffer said, “I don’t think there’s any question that this administration is more hostile to free speech than any in recent memory. I think we see this in the administration’s focus on leak investigations. You see it in the president’s willingness to block people from his Twitter page for criticizing him or his policies.”
