Daily Beast columnist Jonathan Alter argued Saturday on MSNBC that if Minnesota had a Republican governor who would appoint a Republican senator, Democrats would likely not have called for Sen. Al Franken’s (D-MN) resignation and instead given Franken a chance before the Ethics Committee
“[T]he way you know it’s political is that if the governor of Minnesota were a Republican, and was going to appoint a Republican to Franken’s seat, I highly doubt that all these Democratic senators would have rushed to judgment here without giving him a chance before the ethics committee,” Alter stated.
