Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said if Alabama U.S. Senate hopeful Roy Moore wins that Republicans would the “baggage of him winning.”
Graham said, “Well, that’s a political decision by the president. he’s definitely trying to throw a lifeline to Roy Moore. From a Republican point of view, I don’t see — I don’t know what winning looks like for Roy Moore. If he wins, you get the baggage of him winning and it becomes a story every day about whether or not you believe the women or Roy Moore. If you lose, you give the senate seat to a Democrat.”
He added, “The moral of the story is, don’t nominate somebody like Roy Moore who could actually lose a seat that any other Republican could win. From a party perspective, we’ve got to long long term, not short term. What I would tell President Trump, if you think winning with Roy Moore is going to be easy for the republican party, you’re mistaken.”
