During an interview on the “Axe Files” podcast released on Wednesday, host and CNN Senior Political Commentator David Axelrod said he, along with others in politics, “looked the other way” on former President Bill Clinton’s sexual misconduct and “there’s a lot of soul-searching to be done.”
Axelrod began by saying that sexual misconduct is not unique to either side of the political spectrum.
He later stated, “I was arguing with a friend who said, ‘How can you — how can people have voted for Donald Trump after that Access Hollywood tape?’ And I had to be honest, and I said, ‘Look, I voted for Bill Clinton twice.’ And I think he was a really fine president, a brilliant guy, committed public servant, but I knew. I mean, everyone in politics knew about his behavior. And we looked the other way. And I think there’s a lot of soul-searching to be done.”
