NBC “Sunday Night Football” analyst Cris Collinsworth jinxed Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler in his week 10 game with the New England Patriots.
When Osweiler dropped back, Collinsworth said the quarterback “looks better” and “looks sharp” as Osweiler’s pass went straight to a Patriots defender.
“It was Osweiler who talked about Hue Jackson in Cleveland and said “I have nothing bad to say about him. My fundamentals needed work and Hue Jackson did great work,’” Collinsworth recalled. “And I’ll tell you, he looks better, he looks sharp out here tonight.”
Play-by-play man Al Michaels chimed in after the pick, “Third and five, and that’s on cue. Patrick Chung, and it’s [Garrett] Bolles who’s going to take him down. That is the ultimate kibosh.”
“Nobody can do it like I can,” Collinsworth added.
Michaels joked, “You’ve eclipsed Coach Madden with that one. That’s Hall of Fame.”
Collinsworth then apologized to Osweiler for jinxing him.
After signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Houston Texans in 2016, Osweiler was traded to the quarterback graveyard that is the Cleveland Browns in the offseason and cut before the start of the 2017 season. He later signed a deal with the Broncos, who initially drafted him out of Arizona State in 2012.
