CNN’s Acosta: Trump Reached for Talking Points of Staunch Second Amendment Supporters By Blaming Mental Health

Monday on CNN’s “Situation Room,”  senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta discussed President Donald Trump’s reaction to the Texas church shooting and  said the president was using the “talking points of staunch supporters of the Second Amendment.”

Acosta said, “Almost immediately shutting down any talk of gun control, the president appeared to be reaching for talking points of staunch supporters of the Second Amendment, blaming mental health issues alone for the carnage in Texas.”

He added, “The president’s comment that it’s too early to talk about guns mirrors his response to the Las Vegas massacre from just over a month ago.”
