Schumer: Sessions ‘Has an Obligation to Come Back’ Before Congress, Perjury ‘Something That Would Be Looked At’

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show,” Senate Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is obligated to come back and testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee about contacts with Russia.

Schumer said, “Senator Sessions should come back before them. They had asked him questions in the past. They weren’t sure they got straight answers. And now it seems some of the facts that we have seen seem to make it even more serious. He has an obligation to come back.”

He added, “[P]erjury is a very careful standard, but it’s something that would be looked at. I think — I have not seen, I’ve just heard secondhand what he has said. it’s been reported. I’d want to see all the facts before coming to a judgment, but it’s serious enough, just seeing a cursory description of what happened, that I agree with Franken. I agree with Leahy, he’s got to come back.”
