During Monday’s White House Press Briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated that George Papadopoulos, who pled guilty to lying to federal agents, had an “extremely limited” role in the campaign as a volunteer member of a group that met once.
“It was extremely limited. It was a volunteer position,” Sanders said of Papadopoulos’ role in the campaign. She continued that “no activity was ever done in an official capacity on behalf of the campaign in that regard.”
Sanders later said Papadopoulos was a member of “a volunteer advisory council that meant one time over the course of a year. And he was part of a list that was read out in the Washington Post.”
