On Friday’s broadcast of PBS’ “Washington Week,” New York Times reporter and NBC contributor Yamiche Alcindor stated that Democrats want to know more information about the Niger attack, but that Democrats see the attack as an opportunity to bring President Trump’s effectiveness into question.
Alcindor said, “I should say that I’ve been talking to some Democrats about this, including Representative Wilson (D-FL), and she essentially says, and the talking point is, that this is Trump’s Benghazi. The Democrats see this, I think, in some ways, as a political opportunity to question his effectiveness as the commander-in-chief. And as a result, you see – I think there’s the substantive side of Republicans also wanting to know more. And I think Democrats genuinely want to know more as well. But then there’s also whether or not they’re – that they’re going to use this to kind of attack the president.”
