Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” President Donald Trump sounded off on the protests by National Football League players that have sprung up over the opening of the season during the National Anthem.
Trump argued former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick should have been suspended for his protest and added he thought that disrespecting the country, the flag and the National Anthem should not be allowed.
“I watched Colin Kaepernick,” Trump said. “And I thought it was terrible. And then it got bigger and bigger. It started mushrooming. And frankly, the NFL should have suspended him for one game, and he would have never done it again. They could have suspended him for two games. And if he did it a third time for the season, and you would have never had a problem. I will tell you: You cannot disrespect our country, our flag, our anthem. You cannot do that.”
