Monday at the White House press briefing, when asked about gun control in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said today was not the day to discuss policy. Instead, she said, it is a time for mourning.
Sanders said, “Look, this is an unspeakable tragedy. Today is a day for consoling of survivors and mourning those we lost. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with all those individuals. There’s a time and place for political debate. But now is the time to unite as a country.”
She added, “It would be premature for us to discuss policy when we don’t fully know all the facts or what took place last night.”
