Wednesday on Capitol Hill at Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) news conference on his proposed Medicare for All Act, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) said “all the people in this country,” including the undocumented, should “have health care as a right, not a privilege.”
Hirono said, “For us to be able to achieve health care as a right, not a privilege, is going to require all of us and the millions of people out there who care just as much as you all do. For all of our families, for every American citizen—I should mention immigrants, people who are in this country, 11 million undocumented people, 800,000 DACA participants who are about to be deported in the next six months, all the people in this country should have health care as a right, not a privilege.”
