Tuesday on ABC’s “The View,” co-host Joy Behar said President Donald Trump ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy was “racism” because those affected were from “so-called brown countries.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin said, “I think what’s terrible that people don’t understand is we have 800,000 Dreamers right now, and they must — it’s not a path to citizenship, right, so every two years they have to reapply. There’s a $1,000 fee every two years, and they also pay taxes. They pay into Medicaid. They pay into Medicare. They pay into Social Security, all for benefits that they don’t have. And guess what, we get rid of them, we lose $24.6 billion over ten years. That’s how much money these people put in — these Americans, I think Americans, put into our country. I mean, if the Trump administration is all about jobs, a lot of them employ people also by the way, but if they’re all about jobs and saving money and having money in the United States, then why would you then get rid of people who –”
Behar said, “Well, that’s the lie. That’s the lie that it’s not about that because none of these kids— or people or whatever ages they are from Sweden or Norway. They’re all from these brown — so-called brown countries. Brown people who are not white — nonwhite people. So there’s racism involved here and why don’t they just admit it.”
