A quick-thinking Houston reporter is being praised after she flagged down a rescue boat Sunday during the Hurricane Harvey flooding and rescued a stranded truck driver.
As KHOU’s Brandi Smith was broadcasting live, a sheriff’s deputy truck carrying a boat passed. Smith notified the driver there was a stranded truck driver down below.
“Are you guys headed down to the truck right here?” Smith said. “There is a truck driver stuck here in about ten feet of water.”
The sheriff’s deputies pulled the driver out of the window and onto the boat.
“Sir, thank God you’re OK,” Smith said to the rescued truck driver.
According to Smith, another truck driver died in that same spot during floods last year.
