Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) discussed his apparent feud with President Donald Trump.

Trump hosted a rally in Phoenix on Tuesday and took aim at Flake and his colleague Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). However, he did not mention either by name.

Flake dismissed Trump’s remarks by saying he was “glad” Trump visited his state earlier in the week and praised his commitment to securing the border.

“I was glad that the president came to Arizona, in particular, his visit down to Yuma on the border,” Flake said. “I think the president and all of us share the same goal to have a secure border. And what we need to do is say what does that mean?”

Flake was asked by “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade about prospects of shutting the government down, a measure Trump hinted might be necessary to secure funding to build the border wall.

“We don’t need a government shutdown,” Flake said. “That never ends well. We don’t save money doing it.”
