To protect the integrity of special counsel Robert Mueller’s efforts, he urged those lawmakers to “step aside” and reminded viewers that “collusion itself” was not a crime.
“First of all, collusion itself isn’t a crime and there is not really a very strong prima fascia case for any crime thus far,” Turley said. “And that raises some of these concerns. But, you know, the fact is Mueller has put on his team some heavy hitters who are known for flipping witnesses. I wouldn’t be surprised if they look for something that could give them leverage against some of these key individuals.”
