Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) said President Donald Trump’s suggestion to let Obamacare “fail” following the collapse of Senate Republican attempt repeal and replace the law was the “morally repugnant” actions of a “little-spoiled kid.”
McAuliffe said,”Republicans control the House and the Senate. This is their failure. They ran on this. They said they would get it done. The president’s clips you showed earlier said he would get it done. They have failed. I find it morally repugnant what the president of the United States said today that potentially 30 million individuals, Americans can lose their insurance and he’s like a spoiled kid who picks up his marbles and walks away. Where is the leadership?”
“We have a void of leadership today,” he continued. “He ought to stand up. He ought to be a statesman, and pull together. This is how negotiations were done back when you worked with Tip O’Neill with Bob Michel and Ronald Reagan, parties came together for the good of the country. Donald Trump has abdicated his responsibility as president of the United States of America. He is now hurting Americans, and he is going to pay the price politically.”
