Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, responded to a tweet from Donald Trump, Jr. about reports he met with a Russian attorney in 2016 seeking opposition research on his father Donald Trump’s election opponent Hillary Clinton.
Trump, Jr. called it “desperation” from the media and Democratic that Trump, Jr. said were “invested” in the 2016 Trump presidential campaign-Russia story.
Schiff said to “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski that there was more out there than what was in the “public domain.”
“Well, there’s an awful lot more than that’s even in the public domain,” Schiff said. “But of course, the evolving accounts from Don Jr. don’t inspire a lot of confidence. This is someone who was very adamant — never had any one of these meetings, never had any kind of help or offers of help. ‘This is preposterous.’ He was making the same argument before. Of course, he’s had to evolve his story many times since then. I’m sure it’ll evolve many times in the future. So, I don’t give that a whole lot of credit.”
