Monday on CNN’s “The Lead,” Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said the Republican health care bill was unpopular and it would be “best” politically for the GOP if they let it “die” and start over by working with Democrats to fix the Affordable Care Act.

Kristol said, “They might be better off politically than passing a bill that’s so unpopular that it will actually become law and go into effect. Then they could say they did their best; it’s very complicated. They’ll probably have to do a bipartisan fix with the Democrats of some of the particular problems of the Obamacare exchanges and then say ‘We’ll come back and take a look at it.’ At this point, I honestly think just politically; it’s probably the best thing that could happen for the Republicans.”

When host Jake Tapper asked, “To let it die?” Kristol added, “Yeah. Start over.”
