American tennis player Bethanie Mattek-Sands went down Thursday with a brutal knee injury at Wimbledon.
Mattek-Sands, 32, collapsed on the court mid-match against Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
Soon after falling to the ground, Mattek-Sands grabbed her knee and began yelling, “Help me!”
She was taken to the hospital to be treated for “an acute knee injury.”
On top of competing in the singles tournament, Mattek-Sands had also advanced to the second round of the women’s doubles bracket with doubles partner Lucie Safarova.
When Safarova learned what happened, she was visibly distraught.
