Dem Rep Meeks: Trump ‘Wants to be Like Mr. Putin’ – ‘Would Like to be More of An Authoritarian Type’

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Representative Gregory Meeks (D-NY) argued President Trump would like to be more of an authoritarian like Russia’s Vladimir Putin and shut down the press.

Meeks said, “I think he wants to be like Mr. Putin. He would like to shut down the press or have the state just run the press. He would like to be more of an authoritarian type president. He’s got to show that he is going to be, you know, democracy and the values that we share, like with our EU partners, are what has to stand forward.”
