On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) argued Attorney General Jeff Sessions should resign for signing off on the firing of FBI Director James Comey and because “There is good reason to believe that he was not truthful when he testified before Congress” about his meetings with the Russians.
Harris said she thinks Sessions should resign because “There is good reason to believe that he was not truthful when he testified before Congress [about his meetings with the Russians].”
She added, “And then, he just, in the last 48 hours, that he would sign off on firing the person who’s investigating the case he’s recused from. It calls into question his objectivity and his ability to keep his word when he has told the American public and Congress that he’ll recuse himself from being involved with a subject that he knows he has a conflict with. And let’s be clear about this, in the president’s letter to James Comey, he referenced the Russia investigation. … So, clearly, if we connect the dots, there is a nexus between the Russia investigation and the firing of Comey.”
