Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) called on a halt to overbooking on commercial airline flights in the wake of an incident on a United flight out of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, in which a passenger was dragged off a plane due to an apparent overbooking situation.
Christie, whose state is home to Newark Airport, a hub for United Airlines, criticized the “attitude” of employees of that airline.
“What I really am saying — saying to the Trump administration, saying to Secretary [Elaine] Cho is you can do something really important here,” Christie said. “Until you learn how the airlines are really using this overbooking, suspend them. Stop them from doing it because what we saw the other night is, unfortunately, typical of the attitude of United Airlines. Now I know that because 70 percent of the flight at Newark Airport, in and out, are for United Airlines. And the attitude of that airline is awful.”
