Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was asked by co-host Mika Brzezinski to look ahead to other campaign promises President Donald Trump had made beyond the repeal of Obamacare, including tax reform and border security.
Jordan argued the American Health Care Act (AHCA), which was said to be the first stop in repealing Obamacare by House GOP leadership, was not what had been promised to the American people. Therefore, he urged Republicans to do what they had said during the campaign on the on taxes and the border. Otherwise, there may be the same problems with those issues as there was with the AHCA.
“I think we have a lot of things that need to get done,” Jordan said. “I think the mistake of this past bill is that we didn’t do what the American people sent us here to do because it wasn’t full repeal. So when it comes to tax reform, when it comes to border security, when it comes to the other big issues we’ve talked about accomplishing and that we’d promise the voters we would, let’s just do what we said. If we do that, I think we’ll be fine; if we don’t, I think we may have the same problems we had on this last bill, unfortunately.
