Per a report by Fox4KC, a Kansas City, MO man is in custody charged with attempted sodomy after he allegedly assaulted a two-year-old girl at a playground.
William L. Bates Jr., 24, is accused of snatching the two-year-old off the swing, grabbing her by her hips, and pulling her diaper down.
The girl’s mother said she then saw Bates lift his shirt and take his pants down, and begin thrusting against her daughter.
The mother ran over and knocked the man down, and proceeded to hit him until he managed to escape.
The mother notified police, who later arrested the man in the area.
Upon arrest, Bates was in possession of marijuana and an unidentified white vial of fluid with a chemical odor.
The girl’s mother identified him as the man who grabbed her daughter.
Bates is charged with 1st degree attempted sodomy and attempted statutory sodomy with a person less than 12 years old. His bond is set at $150,000 cash only.
