Fmr Clinton Camp Official: Russian Influence ‘Should Have Been a Significant Piece of Info That the Voters Had’

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “For the Record,” former Clinton campaign Senior Strategist and Pollster Joel Benenson stated that Russian influence in the election “should have been a significant piece of information that the voters had at that time, and they didn’t.”

While discussing Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ meeting with Russia’s ambassador, Benenson was asked what influence he thought Russia had on the election. He responded, “Well, three states were very close, Greta, I mean, if you look at Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, it’s a total of about 75,000 votes across three states that tipped the Electoral Colleg one way or the other. Look, I think in a campaign in the late stages, it’s always new information, unanticipated events that have a dramatic affect, just like FBI Director Comey’s letter to Congress on October 28th, had a dramatic effect, and it turned out to be nothing. But this should have been a significant piece of information that the voters had at that time, and they didn’t.”
